Even though this cavity was at an advanced stage, it was not causing the patient any symptoms yet. With the Diagnodent, I detected and intercepted this problem before it started causing a problem for this patient. You can see the red decay-indicating dye is used to verify diseased tooth structure. This must be removed before a restoration will bond successfully to the tooth.
